What great news out of California this afternoon, as the repellent Proposition 8 was overturned. Despite the inevitable conservative backlash that is coming (and an appeal, I'm sure), this has restored some of my faith in my brethren to the South.

So I heard about the decision on the radio on my way to court and thought "Sound legal reasoning." I headed into the courthouse, finished my business there and then came outside. A LARGE gay man walked by me, chanting "Breeders lost the court case; breeder's lost the court case. Prop 8 is dead!" Of course, I thought to myself "Well, it's not really an issue of procreation, so I don't know why we have to go there. It's an issue of equal rights." Then I called a friend on some business. On seeing my number, he answered the phone "Congratulations," to which I responded, laughing, "Fuck you, asshole," to which he replied in a pseudo asian accent "That right! What time you come over?" *Sheesh* |
