I was wondering how people used to spend their time before stuff like Twitter, Facebook, etc. So, leaving out family gatherings, anything classed as a duty, and work ... how did folk fill their leisure time, say 100 years ago.
I'll start off with:
Singing songs around the parlor piano.
Anyone else wanna play?

I remember one day my dad said to my mum, "you never write any letters to my family back home in Sicily". My mum's reply was, "why don't you write, at least you went to school for a year".
