If you, like me, are getting homocidal about Google's supposed search imporvement that forces you continually to reset your search preferences - AND who have tried every suggestion of helpful hints, I have FINALLY found a way to bypass the crap.
So first of all - do NOT believe the advice about cookie disabled messages because they are WRONG.
Do NOT believe if you "save" your search preferences they will stick - sometimes they reset immediately.
Do NOT drive yourself crazy checking that you actually DID request to "turn off" Google Instant, or any of the other options you want to permanently disable. And, no, you do NOT have to take a computing course to understand all the jargon.
JUST SIMPLY AND POSITIVELY RESET YOUR HOMEPAGE TO THIS: https://ssl.scroogle.org/
It still gives you Google, but without anything they've recently added - probably as an ad-tracking device. OK - maybe the page is not so aethetically adorable, but I'll sacrifice that for a blissful searching experience the way I want it.
