Let's all laugh at the French. They did so badly that they flew home in Economy class.
So glad the French are out, not as glad as the Irish.

And if England beat them, somehow, they will then almost certainly face Argentina next: double . |

They'll probably win in 2014:
1994: didn't even qualify (a bit like, ahem...) 1998: champions 2002: bottom of the group (no goals) 2006: runners-up (by penalty shoot-out) 2010: bottom of the group |

Ha!
Great to see karma in action. Doesn't happen very often.
Paraguay are my team because I drew them in the sweepstake at work. The South American sides are looking good compared to the European ones.

For my taste Germans played way too relaxed in the game but it didn't backfire back, only it went for the opposite effect. We'll see how the Ger vs. Arg game goes.

Argentines are in my opinion way to strong for anybody. "Tough" defending, middlefield that wins immense ammount of the balls, and the pitch perfect transition to the offensive attack. I don't see Germany pulling through their fine passes in this game like they did through last weeks. Schweinsteiger (popularly called Schweini ) will clog up like he does in the most important games, and Uzil will be effectively hindered.
For me the one player that makes the difference by the Argentines is not Messi, Mascherano or Higuain, it's rather Tevez. A "fighter" like that brings so much to the table and drives whole team to do more. Germany doesn't have such a player (the closest I think they have is Marin, the young player on the bench).
Now with that said, I'm still a big Germanophile and can't but root for Schland too...

Germany hasn't played a quality team yet, can't see them getting past the next game.

Some teams play better when matched with more quality teams and on the other side are prone to being defeated by smaller (but tactically apt) ones. I think that is from The Art of War. I would call Serbia a "smaller team", also the Switzerland in the Spain group. To recall those two teams only won games against the Spaniards and Deutschlanders.
Also Portugal just did all the things you shouldn't do when playing against the Red Ships of Spain.
